Unity isn’t an option in the church it’s a command.

“There are six things which the Lord hates, Yes, seven which are an abomination to Him: Haughty eyes, a lying tongue, And hands that shed innocent blood, A heart that devises wicked plans, Feet that run rapidly to evil, A false witness who utters lies, And one who spreads strife among brothers.”

??Proverbs? ?6:16-19?

We are called to utterly and completely love one another, without love everything is of no importance. We must constantly be praying that God fills us with love for our brothers and sisters, and that he will show us his heart for his children.

We must be slow to criticize our fellow siblings in Christ and quick to build them up. Do we not know that Gods children are above reproach and are holy and blameless in his sight? If you search up church controversy you will see many many things of disunity and churches trying to outdo each other instead of working together. If a non believer looks at these things do you think they will have any real wanting to join a church? I mean to them we must just look like a family at Christmas fighting over where to put the tree. Our disunity is causing people to run from Christianity, whereas unity will make them run to it. This world is full of disunity and if it’s the same in the church why would non believers want to join? We are to be a light set on a hill, we are to look different, and this can come by unity.

It’s time for the church to fight for unity, and the biggest thing that this will take is laying down your pride. We as the church are so often consumed by the boastful pride of life. We are so fixed on being right that we forget to love. Some pastor will stumble on his words and say something not completely right and people we jump on him and say how bad he is doing and that he’s a false teacher. We must remember what Ephesians says in 6:2 “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” Condemning that pastor may instead of helping the church, be tearing it down and making you a sower of strife.

“Thus says the Lord, “Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool. Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest? For My hand made all these things, Thus all these things came into being,” declares the Lord. “But to this one I will look, To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.” Isaiah? ?66:1-2? ?

Let’s fight for unity, let’s fight for love, let’s prepare the way for our father. I don’t know about you, but when Jesus comes back I don’t want to be fighting my fellow Christians. Instead I want to be on my knees with all of you shouting praise to our Father. Holy Holy Holy are you my lord! Let’s be willing to kneel down before our Lord in humility and reverence

  1. Luke,
You carry such wisdom. Your time with the Father is seen in your words. Continue to speak in boldness and love.

  2. Luke, You are currently in the midst of a pressure cooker for Christian unity! The community of your squad has the potential to truly look like the church as Christ intended it, but that doesn’t mean it will be easy. All of you will have to choose to press through the hard, the annoying, the feedback, the growth, the forgiveness, the challenges of living in such tight community. But it will be worth it. Keep loving one another well with the love that Christ pours in. When we overflow with Him; He spills onto those around us and pours out blessing abundant – more than we could ever ask or imagine! Praying for just what you speak of for all of Squad H. Yes, holy is the Lord!

  3. LOVED THIS!!! I’m currently wearing a shirt that simply says, “unity.” It is the heart of the Father to see his children seeking to serve and love each other! It reveals their heart towards God! Jesus says, “If you served even the least of these, you served me.” Revelation 19 shows the Bride adorning herself, ready for the bridegroom. We must be seeking to be one body, one bride, awaiting the return of our first love!
